Though she was born years after the decade ended, Olivia Rodrigo has mastered ‘90s style. Whether she’s wearing Vivienne Westwood-inspired tartan corsetsBlumarine ra-ra skirts, or vintage cheerleading outfits with black creepers, the 18-year-old music star has spent her stratospheric rise to music stardom over the past year showcasing her irresistibly fun, pick-and-mix approach to turn-of-the-millennium fashion in all its glory. Attending the opening of the “Artists Inspired by Music: Interscope Reimagined” exhibition at LACMA last night—a starry event that also played host to the likes of Billie EilishLana del Rey, and Jared Leto—Rodrigo’s keen eye for a throwback reference was on full display once again, as she stepped out in one of her favorite labels, the Y2K-inspired Heaven diffusion line by Marc Jacobs. The eclectic outfit consisted of a grungy patchworked cardigan with extra-long sleeves worn over a cropped white tank, a belted camo mini skirt, and a pair of Jacobs’s vertiginous strappy Kiki platform boots for an additional glam rock touch. (It’s not the first time Rodrigo has worn them either, having posted a snap of her wearing them to Instagram with a plaid mini dress last October.) Playful, polished, and a little bit provocative—it was Rodrigo’s distinctive fashion formula in a nutshell.
